The Uraon people constitutes an ethnic minority in Bangladesh. Most of them live in the northern part of the country.
Asha supports eight schools attended by Uraon children. The Uraon have their own language, belonging to the language family of the Munda and belong to the Adivasi tribal community. Therefore, they are socially isolated due to language barriers. At the schools supported by Asha, the children are taught the Bengali language to enable them to attend a secondary school and, above all, to find a social connection to society.
At the present time, we support eleven college students, four of them Uraon, with 12 Euros monthly for the coming two years.
